The Last Guardian is Finally Coming

last guardian featureThe Last Guardian is one title that every gamer knows about and has been through developmental hell more than any other title I can imagine. First announced back in 2007, The Last Guardian has suffered numerous delays, production issues and even a cancellation leaving all hope lost, but low and behold it’s here and more beautiful than ever.

The project itself has always been extremely ambitious really pushing the developers to their breaking points. The Last Guardian has been too much for one studio to handle and has suffered far too many issues to keep even the most dedicated of fans attention. With that said the gameplay we were shown at E3 was beautiful, adventurous and cute. You could truly feel the connection between the animal and child so there is no doubt in my mind that the story will be massive, rewarding and heart wrenching.

To anyone who has played the PS2 classics ICO and Shadow of the Colossus you know exactly what you are in for. The game seems to have the same lack of combat that I loved about ICO and Shadow of the Colossus. The fights you did encounter held a certain weight and consequence to them leaving you with hours in between to get to know your characters and develop a real attachment to them. Keep in mind this is mostly speculation based on previous titles since the gameplay we were shown was fairly limited but I think it’s safe to say this is what we can expect from this title.

2005’s “Shadow of the Colossus”

Like an ex-girlfriend who comes and goes as she pleases it’s hard to be happy about The Last Guardians return. Sure everything looks fantastic but with a firm “2016” release date I won’t be holding my breath. If anything it was a surprising conformation of current rumors and speculation but I wouldn’t spend too much time swooning over this announcement.
