Closing out the year of big publisher showcases was the Nintendo and Square Enix press conferences back to back Tuesday morning. Nintendo opened its show with a crazy but funny puppet montage leading into a demo of Star Fox Zero. Star Fox Zero will bring multiple vehicle types, new and old levels and multiplayer and is being co-developed by Platinum Games (the studio that brought us Bayonetta 2)

The show then moved into a lengthy portion covering Mario Maker (now Super Mario Maker) where the creators demonstrated and spoke to their development process on the original games. It was pretty sweet. Super Mario Maker is coming September 11th.

3DS has a solid stack of games coming this year and next. The shortlist is made up of Metroid Prime Federation Forge, Hyrule Warriors, The Legend of ZeldaL Triforce Heroes, Fire Emblem, Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer and Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam.

And closing out, Nintendo announced sequels to Mario Tennis (Ultra Smash) and Animal Cross Amiibo Festival, which comes off as an Animal Cross meets Mario Party. Hopefully more of the former than the latter.
