Over 2500 Young Actors Have Auditioned to be a Young Han Solo

The most sought after role for young actors in Hollywood is in the trusting hands of Disney and LucasFilm. According to The Hollywood Reporter there have been over 2500 actors that have either met with the casting directors or sent in audition tapes to play a young Han Solo in the upcoming standalone film.

The studio says they’re looking for an actor in his mid-twenties, but that said, they have auditioned actors from 16-year-old Chandler Riggs (The Walking Dead) to 34-year-old Rami Malek (Mr. Robot). Here are some of the familiar names that have been confirmed to have auditioned to be our newest scruffy nerf herder:

Dave Franco (Neighbors, 21 Jump Street)
Miles Teller (Whiplash, Fantastic Four)
Aaron Taylor-Johnson (Avengers: Age of Ultron, Kickass)
Logan Lerman (“Percy Jackson & the Olympians” film series)
Colton Haynes (Arrow, San Andreas)
Tom Felton (“Harry Potter” Film Series)
Nick Robinson (Jurassic World)
Max Thieriot (Bates Motel)
Ansel Elgort (The Fault in Our Stars, “Divergent” Film Series)

So one of those guys could be the newest Han Solo, or it may be someone else entirely. There are literally thousands to chose from. Off this list I would have to say I like Logan Lerman in the role best. He’s a got some acting chops, as seen best in The Perks of Being a Wallflower, plus he’s proven he can be an action star with the Percy Jackson films. The top three we mentioned will probably make the shortlist as they’re three of the biggest names in Hollywood right now, but I don’t think I could see any of them at the helm of the Millennium Falcon.  Dave Franco is hilarious, but definitely not Han Solo, and I am already getting a little tired of seeing Aaron Taylor-Johnson as a young action hero. Don’t even get me started on Miles Teller. I’m still bitter about Fantastic Four.

The Han Solo standalone film will be directed by Phil Lord and Chris Miller, and is expected to start shooting in February of 2017 with a theatrical release of May 25th, 2018. Who is your pick for a young Han Solo? Is he one of the guys on this list, or someone else? Comment below to let us know your thoughts!
