While appearing at the HeForShe Media Summit Joss Whedon dropped some clues on his new script that he’s been working on in typical Whedon-esque fashion.
“It’s a story about a girl who goes through some unbelievable shit. And that much is all I can say. It is an original screenplay that is very different from everything I’ve ever done except for that it’s exactly the same.” – Joss Whedon
He’s hoping to have it finished within the next couple of months and was also quoted as saying “It’s the first time in my life I’m writing without a sort of studio audience rating, without a plan. I’m just writing about something I care about, so it’s a little terrifying and it’s taking a little longer. But I think it will be good!”
Whedon was honored at the Summit for his activism and belief of women’s rights. In a speech he urged men to stop and listen to women.
“It’s not something I’ve personally mastered. It’s listening. Count to five every single time before you interrupt – before you interrupt a co-worker, before you compliment someone on something in your workplace, before you reprimand your daughter, before you compliment your daughter…before you explain.
Take an extra step just to think for a moment, to think what the person you’re dealing with is going through. What I would like is to never again receive an award just for being a decent person.”
